Information sheets on different aspects of life in Palestine in Jesus’ time. Pupils could research one aspect in groups and feedback to the rest of the class. The document ‘Palestine in the time of Jesus’ is a grid which can be used to record their research.

A simple starter activity allowing pupils to give their opinion on whether certain events are luck, coincidence, miracle or something else. Could for the basis for a discussion on what miracles are and whether they happen today.

A card sort to get students familiar with some of the different functions of the Church as ‘The Body of Christ’. They could order them in terms of what they think are most or least important.

Cards from the card sort are be distributed to pupils. They show different philosophers' and theologians' beliefs about miracles. Pupils then complete the worksheet based on the information they have found out.

An AT2 starter activity getting pupils to think about where they would live and what their lives would be like if they were God and had decided to come and live on earth. This introduces the topic of the incarnation and could lead into a discussion of the differences between what pupils would choose if they were God and how Jesus came into the world.

A series of cards which can be distributed to pupils so they can think about how different people would have felt as Jesus walked to his crucifixion. To make it into an interactive activity, each pupil is given one card and they walk round the classroom asking the question to another pupil. When they have each asked each other their question and given an answer they swap cards and move on to ask someone else.
